| Project description | To provide 100% broadband coverage for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly together with business support. The first element, upgrading exchanges in the more urban areas targeted 3,300 businesses over 3 years, this was achieved in 2 years with the 3,300th firm being a relocated business from Surrey, in addition there were 15,000 households connected to Broadband. The project partners, SWRDA, BT, Cornwall Enterprise Company, Cornwall College, Cornwall Broadband Partnership, Business Link, Defra, Cornwall County Council and Objective One both ERDF and EAGGF addressed market failure in a rural area. Importantly a major capital investment in IT infrastructure was backed up by bespoke business support to achieve optimum return.
