Project descriptionThe project includes sections of four streets - Ponting Street, Gladstone Street, Salisbury Street and Graham Street which are located in the Central Ward of Swindon. This is one of the most deprived wards in the southwest region with high levels of crime and social exclusion, which the Streets for Living Project aims to improve.The objective is to use the transformation of the street environment as a driver to reduce crime and social exclusion.The four existing streets will be transformed with new surfaces that may be shared by vehicles and pedestrians. It will include new street lighting, new parking areas, children's play areas, hard soft landscaping, bicycle storage and seating areas.

Project descriptionA managed workspace scheme developed by the Torbay Development Agency in partnership with South Devon College Workspace. The project has seen the development of a hub centre in the new South Devon College building in Paignton and is designed to support new businesses and encourage students at the College to consider starting a business.

Project descriptionTo establish the Cornwall campus for the Peninsula Medical School and Institute of Health Studies located at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and opened September 2004. The following investors contributed to Phase 1: NHS, University of Plymouth, SW RDA, Objective One, Duchy Charitable Trust and Cornwall County Council.

Project descriptionTo provide 100% broadband coverage for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly together with business support. The first element, upgrading exchanges in the more urban areas targeted 3,300 businesses over 3 years, this was achieved in 2 years with the 3,300th firm being a relocated business from Surrey, in addition there were 15,000 households connected to Broadband. The project partners, SWRDA, BT, Cornwall Enterprise Company, Cornwall College, Cornwall Broadband Partnership, Business Link, Defra, Cornwall County Council and Objective One both ERDF and EAGGF addressed market failure in a rural area. Importantly a major capital investment in IT infrastructure was backed up by bespoke business support to achieve optimum return.
