| Project description | In August 2003 the Chairman of Somerset County Council (SCC) was invited to the Vendée to sign a cultural cooperation agreement with the Vendée General Council (CGV). At the same time the two Abbeys of Glastonbury and Maillezais finalised their own friendship charter as a promise to continue a link that had started some four years earlier. The first joint project for both authorities was planned and implemented to improve the partners' understanding of their respective cultural frameworks in order to help prepare the ground for future cooperation with each other, and involving additional partners.
