South West regional conference on future of CAP post-2013
5 March 2010 – Bicton College, Budleigh Salterton, Devon
A joint SW CoRE / SW Rural Affairs Forum event
With support from the South West UK Brussels Office, the South West Chamber of Rural Enterprise and the South West Rural Affairs Forum jointly organised a regional conference on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy and Rural Development post-2013.
With measures introduced under the CAP Health Check to modernise and simplify the Common Agricultural Policy now fully implemented in the UK, the debate on the future Policy framework is now underway, coinciding with the appointment of the next European Commission in February this year. The European Commission will soon be preparing a Paper proposing a menu of general CAP reform options to be published in the second half of 2010, with the view to submit legal proposals on more detailed CAP reform proposals to be negotiated by EU Ministers within the Council.
The purpose of this conference was to invite stakeholders from across the South West to review the successes and failures of the current CAP framework and to feed in views about what the future framework could look like post-2013 to European Commission representatives. There was an opportunity to display stands at the event to promote successful rural projects and initiatives. For further information about this event, please contact Nick.
