Director Deputy Director

Brief description of activities

The Convergence Partnership Office is the economic regeneration programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It started in 2007, replacing Objective One which finished in 2006, and runs until 2013. The Partnership invests in activities that will have a long-term impact on the economy of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Through support to businesses, helping people into employment and helping those in work to gain new and up-to-date skills the Convergence Partnership Office will help to build a stronger, more diverse economy. This includes work with higher education to promote business-friendly research and innovation.

The engagement of the public, private, voluntary and community sectors is a key factor of Convergence.

At a European level the budget for Convergence is c£500m from two funds: the European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund. This amount will be topped up by UK public money to give a total of c£712m (figures will vary according to the GBP/Euro exchange rate).
