Torbay’s successful business breakfast as part of European SME Week
The Torbay Development Agency (TDA), in association with Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and UKTI, held a European business breakfast at the Riviera Centre in Torquay on 8 June. The event was well attended with around 75 local business people hearing from EEN, UKTI and Ana Marques from the European Commission.
The breakfast was part of European SME week and was designed to give businesses who might not have thought about extending their trading markets to Europe an insight into the help available to them.
Claudia Lock-Fuerst explained how Enterprise Europe Network can help businesses through the legalities of trading abroad, including protecting intellectual property rights.
The event was also used to launch a brand new and innovative course which will be run as part of the TDA’s Business Boost programme. The Introduction to Exporting course is the first of its kind and will be run in conjunction with UKTI. As well as a one day classroom session participants will also be offered a mentoring service to help them get expand into new markets.
