Territorial Cooperation project marketing event in Bournemouth
Cultural agencies from both sides of the Channel - Dance South West and ODIA (Artistic Information and Development Office of Normandy) - have been developing a partnership, provisionally called Coast to Coast, leading up to a bid to one of the Territorial Cooperation Programmes for a three year programme of international exchange for artists, administrators and technical staff, planned to launch in June 2010.
To launch the venture, and to encourage exchange of artists and administrative expertise, ODIA Normandie and Dance South West are already collaborating on an exchange programme. Audiences will have a rare opportunity to see French contemporary dance in the South-West and for French audiences to see performances by British artists from the South-West. On 13 September 2009, Normandy-based Compagnie Sylvain Groud presented the UK premiere of PEOPLE, a 25-minute work for four dancers in Bournemouth Square, as part of Square Dance, Pavilion Dance’s outdoor performance programme in Bournemouth. On 20 & 22 October 2009, South West-based choreographer Laïla Diallo and her Canadian co-author Mélanie Demers present their internationally touring duet Sauver Sa Peau at the Centre Chorégraphique National du Havre, Haute-Normandie (Oct 20) and at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Caen, Basse-Normandie. And on 3 December 2009, Normandy based companies Hervé Robbe from the Centre Chorégraphique National du Havre, Haute-Normandie and Héla Fattoumi & Eric Lamoureux from the Centre Chorégraphique National de Caen, Basse-Normandie present two duets at The Space, the new studio theatre at the Taachi Morris Centre, Taunton.
The performances will be a part of a larger meeting which will introduce each agency, outline the objectives of the partnership and consult on the six elements contained within the bid. The October and December events will also include master classes and outreach work led by the artists involved. For more information please contact Kate Castle at Dance South West.
