South West partners participate in ROTOPI seminar in Brussels

Richard Hayman from Devon County Council and Colin Youngs from the Environment Agency attended a ROTOPI meeting (Round Table of Practitioners in Implementation) in Brussels with Eleni Marianou to discuss the current state and future perspectives of Territorial Co-operation in Europe.

The ROTOPI regions suggested a reflection process consisting of a series of round table discussions that would reflect on key aspects of the future of Territorial Cooperation.
This process includes a number of workshops on some of the following issues:

o the future role of Territorial Co-operation towards meeting future challenges
o the role of Territorial Co-operation towards implementing Territorial Cohesion,
o the link between Territorial Co-operation and the newly established thematic
strategies (Baltic Sea, Danube, etc.), as well as with macro-regions as Euroregions,
and
o the challenges of Mainstreaming Territorial Co-operation.

Richard and Colin were also able to voice the opinion of the overall South West Territorial Cooperation Group at this meeting, and ensure that the views of the region are taken on board when debating future policy.
