Redevelopment of Osprey Quay in Portland
A new animated film profiling the redevelopment of Osprey Quay is currently on display at the London Boat Show. The film , commissioned by SWRDA who bought the site in 2000, shows a simulated helicopter flight over the former Royal Naval Air Station that is currently in the process of redevelopment. The site is planned to be a centre for marine business and leisure and is intended to host the sailing events for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In addition a planning proposal has been submitted for 70 new low carbon homes as part of a proposed eco-homes development by the developer, Zero C. By investing £38 million into the scheme SWRDA hopes that it help to create a global centre for sailing excellence and attract leisure and marine industries to the area. The film will be used as a promotional tool to attract further investment to the site and to ensure its legacy after the 2012 Olympics.
