Minister for Europe visits CUC campus
Caroline Flint, the Minister for Europe has paid a visit to the Tremough Campus in Penryn as part of her tour around the county. Whilst at the campus she delivered a keynote speech on subject of the UK and EU Governments’ responses to the current economic situation and gave a TV interview in University College Falmouth’s Media Centre to students on College's MA in International Journalism. Tremough Campus has been developed with the aid of substantial EU funding with the aim of aiding the transformation of the region’s economy. An excellent example of how the university has helped to do this is PhD student Dr. James Jobling-Purser who studies involved the creation of a robot designed to carry out surveying roles in the mining industry. Throughout his studies, Dr Jobling-Purser worked with several local companies to develop his robot and now plans to commercialise it for use within the mining industry.
