Innovative Gloucestershire scheme to help business dispose of surplus waste

ScrapShop is a new website that has been set up by Cheltenham business GreenBuying which offers businesses the chance to exchange or sell excess stock with other businesses. The scheme allows firms to trade in goods for free was created using a Cheltenham Borough Council grant of £2,000, which was match-funded. In addition to the exchange scheme a business discussion forum will be hosted on the site to allow instant messaging in the hope to accelerate transaction rates. The scheme aims to avoid thousands of tonnes of waste going to into wastefill and endeavours to encourage the local economy with increased interchanges amongst businesses. Project manager, Matthew Rope stated: "The vision of GreenBuying is to help organisations source recycled products and to help them make their purchasing practices more sustainable."
