Gloucestershire EU training for elected members

Following on from the successful European Briefing on 4 September, Gloucestershire First delivered focused training to elected members examining opportunities to tap into EU funding to help boost the local Economy.

A scene setting session started the day on 20 October, exploring the challenges facing the Gloucestershire economy, and was followed by a series of local project case studies. These explored Competitiveness funding for advice in greening small businesses, ESF for developing skills in communities in Gloucester city, Lifelong Learning and Youth in Action for funding citizenship and aspiration amongst young people and RDPE for local projects in the Forest of Dean.

Most important for elected Members during the current recession was additional information about EU funded advice for local businesses through the local Business Link advisor, the Gloucestershire First RDPE Project Facilitator and Enterprise Europe South West. Further information about the programme format and contacts used can be obtained from Sue Stoner, Gloucestershire First European Manager on 01242 864156 or susan.stoner@gloucestershire.gov.uk
