European Briefing Session in Gloucestershire

Over 70 people from across the region registered to attend this event on 4 September 2009, which was a great success, with attendance from 3 South West MEPs, Ashley Fox, Julie Girling and Graham Watson, and a range of speakers from the region and beyond, discussing the South West’s engagement with Europe. The event focused on three main areas of concern to both the South West and the EU:
- Fighting the recession
- Environmental challenges
- Demographics, immigration and integration
The session included presentations from high level speakers, who gave concrete examples of initiatives that can help with the above topics, combined with discussions and question and answer sessions as well as networking opportunities. The day spawned some new ideas for similar, more focused briefing events in other parts of the region, for which we will circulate details nearer the time.
