Cornish Children spread the magic of Cornish Christmas across Europe

Pupils from St Ives Infant School and Europe Direct Cornwall have spread the magic of a Cornish Christmas among primary schools from 14 countries across Europe this year as part of an exciting Christmas Tree Decoration Exchange Project.

The project, which is being co-ordinated by Europe Direct Llangollen and Europe Direct Carrefour Umbria in Italy involves primary school children making Christmas tree decorations which represent their local area and then sending them to schools in other European countries, together with pictures, Christmas recipes and songs showing how they celebrate Christmas in their country. The youngsters produced a special Christmas decoration containing colourful drawings of a tin mine, a Cornish pisky, a Cornish pasty and a star gazy pie, together with Cornish tartan and St Piran’s flag.

The school have received over 30 different decorations and information packs from schools all over Europe about how Christmas is celebrated in their country.
