Bristol meeting with Secretary General of Eurocities
On the 18 February 2010, Bristol City Council met with Paul Bevan, Secretary General of EUROCITIES in Bristol to discuss the future of their participation in the network. At the recent Cities for Europe event in Brussels, EUROCITIES stated that their objectives for the forthcoming year are economic recovery, climate change and inclusion. This aligns with the strategic objectives of Bristol City Council and subsequently their future participation in the network will revolve around these thematic priorities.
Bristol City Council is currently active in a new working group, ‘Brand Management & City Attractiveness’ which aims to identify how cities can combine their strategic visions for the future. In addition to this Stephen Hilton, Programme Lead for Connecting Bristol will continue his involvement in the ‘ICT for Energy Efficiency’ Group. As a result of participating in this group Bristol is now working with Manchester and Birmingham on the Digital Home Environment project (Dehems) that aims to identify how technology can improve energy efficiency.
