Bristol Green Capital and BETS Seminar on Carbon Reduction
On 11 February 2010 from 2:00 - 5:00pm, Bristol Council will be hosting the following event:
Bristol Green Capital and BETS Seminar - ‘Oil, Carbon and Opportunity: Positive Solutions for Bristol’.
Ambitious city-wide carbon reduction targets have been set for Bristol - 40% by 2020 from 2005 levels. These should stimulate many new business opportunities for the local and regional Environmental Technology and Services sector as Bristol and the wider city-region will have to accelerate its sustainable energy generation and carbon reduction. Recent initiatives by Bristol City Council include:
- Citywide Renewable Energy Study undertaken by CSE which gives a clear picture of energy demand and the most appropriate technologies;
- Peak Oil report which outlines the future risks and opportunities for Bristol.
The Council now wants further dialogue with the Environmental Technology and Services sector to help formulate an energy strategy, and, at this special event, members will receive detailed briefings on this work and have the chance to discuss the issues with a range of experts and decision-makers, and shape the new strategy.
