CoR Open Days 2009

The CoR OPEN DAYS took place in Brussels between 5 and 8 October 2009 and focussed on how European regions and cities are responding to the global economic crisis.
There were be four subthemes under this focus:
1. Restoring growth - Innovation in Europe’s regions and cities
2. Regions and climate change - Europe's way
3. Achieving results, looking ahead - EU Cohesion policy's evaluation and future prospects
4. Territorial cooperation - working together across borders
A new brochure listing the 124 seminars was published.
SOUTH WEST PARTNERS were present in four seminars in 2009:
1. Prof. Stuart Bartholomew, Principal and Chief Executive and Matthew Desmier, Head of Enterprise Unit of the Arts University College at Bournemouth will be speaking at European Design as an Expression of Creativity and Innovation on Advanced education and scholarship in arts, design and media and on Design for designers, Tuesday 6 October, 1.30-6.30pm, Liaison Agency Flanders Europe.
2. Cllr. Carolyn Rule, Cabinet Member – Economy and Regeneration from Cornwall Council will be presenting on Innovation in Transition Regions – Experiences from Cornwall in the Transition Regions partnership, Tuesday 6 October, 2.30-4.15pm, Centre of the Regions.
3. Ahmed Goga, Director of Gloucester Works Employment and Skills Plan, Gloucestershire First will be speaking about inclusive growth through the Gloucester Works programme in the Creative and Inclusive Growth Network, Thursday 8 October, 9.30am-1pm, Permanent Representation of Portugal to the EU.
4. Richard Hayman, Senior Finance Manager at Devon County Council and Representative of the South West Maritime Task Force will participate in the debate in the Atlantic Alliance regional partnership, looking at a framework for cooperation in the Atlantic Area;
5. South West of England Regional Development Agency’s RAPIDE Manager, Benjamin Kuscher, will be speaking at the OPEN DAYS seminar “Regional innovation strategies: sharing knowledge and experience”, Wednesday 7 October, 4.45-6.30pm, Centre Borschette.
6. South West of England Regional Development Agency’s Wave Hub and Bournemouth Borough Council’s Surf Reef to be showcased at OPEN DAYS Exhibition, Wednesday 7 October, all day, Berlaymont.
7. South West of England Regional Development Agency’s RAPIDE project to be showcased at OPEN DAYS Exhibition, Thursday 8 October, all day, Berlaymont.
