OPEN DAYS

Committee of the Regions Open Days 2011

The 9th Committee of the Regions Open Days- European Week of Regions and Cities will be held in Brussels between 10 – 13 October 2011. Together with the EU institutions, more than 200 regions and cites will contribute to a programme of 100 seminars, workshops, debates, exhibitions and networking opportunities for around 6,000 participants.

The 2011 Open Days will concentrate on three key themes: Europe 2020, Better Delivery and Geography Matters. Regions and cities will play a major role in the discussions on "EU2020" agenda, on the budget review, and on the future of EU cohesion policy post-2013. The Open Days are an ideal framework for them to showcase good practice in the field of strengthening regional competitiveness, territorial co-operation and social and economic cohesion, to share experiences with others and to impact on the political debates among EU institutions and Member States.

Our clients will be present in the following activities:
• Cornwall Council will be participating in a seminar entitled ‘Convergence Regions on the way to Cohesion’ run by the Fundacion Galicia Europa on 13th October 2011 from 11.15-13.00 at Fundacion Galicia Europa, 38 Rue de la Loi, Brussels.
• Devon Council will be participating in a seminar entitled ‘Economy and Knowledge of the Sea’ run by the Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, to be held at the Portugal Permanent Representation to the EU.
